Community Impact

Community isn’t a tagline, it’s who we are. As a member-owned credit union, we believe in strengthening the places we live, work, and play through meaningful support, active involvement, and thoughtful partnerships.

We invest back into community life through donations, sponsorships, volunteer efforts, financial education, scholarships, and special initiatives that bring people together and help local organizations succeed.

Donations & sponsorships

Mainstreet proudly supports the communities we serve through donations and sponsorships for local events, organizations, charities, and community groups. These partnerships are an important part of how we give back and stay connected to the people and places that make our communities strong.

Our community support is guided by our commitment to key Sustainable Development Goals, including Decent Work and Economic Growth, Quality Education, Gender Equality, and Climate Action. Through these efforts, we aim to strengthen local economies, expand access to education, foster inclusion, and support long-term community well-being across the regions we serve.

Scholarships

Each year, Mainstreet offers scholarships to local students pursuing post-secondary education.

These scholarships support youth who demonstrate a strong commitment to academic success and building a strong financial future, helping them take the next step in their education while staying connected to their community.

Each One, Teach One

Each One, Teach One is a financial literacy program that brings free, one-hour workshops into community spaces to help people better understand everyday financial topics.

Trained staff visit schools, libraries, community groups, newcomer centres, and more to meet people where they are and share clear, easy-to-understand financial information.

Random Acts of Mainstreet

Our Random Acts of Mainstreet (RAOM) initiative is just another way we like to say thank you to our communities. Surprising people with small gestures like coffee on us, a local gift card, or other tokens of appreciation.

Our 2025 community impact at a glance

52 community events

We were proud to show up across the communities we serve, attending 52 local events throughout the year and connecting with members, organizations, and neighbours.

900+ hours volunteered

Mainstreet employees volunteered more than 900 hours in our communities, supporting local events, initiatives and causes that matter to our members.

$189,000 shared locally

Through sponsorships and donations, we shared over $189,000 with community organizations and events that help our communities thrive.

Volunteer incentive program

Employees who volunteer 40+ hours outside of work receive a $500 donation to a charity of their choice. In 2025, this program directed an additional $11,500 to local organizations, amplifying the impact of their time and dedication.

At Mainstreet, community is at the heart of everything we do.

Each year, we reinvest 5% of our operating income into the communities we serve, supporting local organizations, programs, and initiatives that create opportunities, strengthen connections, and improve quality of life across Southwestern Ontario.
